Earning your Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential is serious work and has a significant impact on your future.
The objective of this seminar is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently tackle the AWS Certified Welding Inspector exam. Successful completion of this exam yields inspectors who have proven their ability to perform high-quality welding inspections, uphold industry standards, and contribute to the safety and reliability of welded products and structures.

Physical copies of all the books/publications used during the seminar are listed below and will be provided to you in advance. This allows you to review the content that will be covered during the seminar ahead of time. A tool kit with various instruments for visual inspection will also be shipped to you.
Keep in mind that it is your responsibility to bring these materials with you to the seminar. Spare copies will not be available on-site, so please make sure you don’t leave your seminar materials at home!

The AWS CWI 1-Week In-Person Seminar & Exam is an intensive classroom training program designed to prepare candidates to confidently tackle all three parts of the AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification exam through structured review of welding fundamentals, visual inspection practice, and codebook study.
This seminar is intended for professionals who meet the AWS CWI eligibility requirements — including welders, welding engineers, welding supervisors, and welding educators — and who want comprehensive, in-person instruction before sitting for the CWI exam.
The course covers Fundamentals (Part A) review, Codebook (Part C) preparation, Visual Inspection workshop (Part B), as well as code navigation, welding symbols, discontinuity identification, inspection tools, and safety practices needed for exam success.
Participants receive physical copies of required standards and publications ahead of time — such as AWS A2.4 (Standard Symbols), A3.0 (Welding Terms), B1.10 (NDE Guide), WIT textbooks and workbooks, Book of Specifications, Book of Exhibits, Part B assignments, codebook guides, and a visual inspection toolkit — which they must bring to the seminar.
Yes — participants who complete the AWS CWI in-person seminar receive 40 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) that can contribute toward continuing education requirements.
