The AWS Foundation offers several grant programs to support welding education and training programs. These grants aim to provide funding for projects that promote the growth and advancement of the welding industry.

Dedicated to building the welding workforce by providing grant funding to secondary and post-secondary welder training facilities that seek to enhance and improve their welding education programs.

Grant Categories

Welding Workforce Grant

Grants up to $50,000 are available for secondary and post-secondary education/training institutions to enhance and improve welding programs resulting in an increase in the number of welding graduates and/or the number of graduates successfully placed in welding or welding-related jobs.

Light A Spark Grant

Miller®, Bechtel Group Foundation, and the AWS Foundation have partnered to establish the Light a Spark Grant. This grant provides a starter package of equipment and supplies to introduce welding into a high school Ag-Ed Program, STEM program, Career and Technical Education Class, or Practical Skills Course.

Section Grants

The American Welding Society Foundation is committed to supporting welding education on the local level through its Welding Workforce Grant program. Four AWS Sections sponsor annual grants for welding schools to purchase equipment or expand facilities to train more welders.
