The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in New York, also known as Kings Point, is a federal service academy that educates and graduates licensed merchant marine officers and officers commissioning into the armed forces. The academy was started in 1943 and began producing merchant marine officers, which were in dire need at the time, to ship supplies overseas.
