This course explores how robotic welding and automation are reshaping fabrication and manufacturing operations. Participants gain practical insight into automated welding systems, robotics integration, and how automation improves efficiency, consistency, and safety. By the end of the training, attendees will have the foundational knowledge needed to confidently discuss robotic welding, evaluate automation opportunities, and understand where welding robots fit within their operations. 


Attending this training will help participants understand how welding robots can enhance productivity, quality, and workplace safety. Whether you're new to robotics or looking to expand your technical skills, this course will give you a solid foundation to stay competitive in the industry.

Earn CEUs/PDHs: Earn 8 PDHs/ 0.8 CEUs Continuing Education Units (CEUs)/Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for your professional growth.

Prerequisite Knowledge: Basic understanding of welding processes is helpful. Familiarity with industrial automation is beneficial but not required. All essential robotic welding concepts are introduced in an accessible, beginner-focused format. 


By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the core components and functions of welding robots and automated welding systems
  • Understand how robotic welding systems are programmed and operated
  • Recognize the benefits and limitations of welding automation
  • Evaluate where robotic welding can improve productivity, weld quality, and workplace safety

No prior robotics experience required.

The webinar will include four sessions focused on Welding Robots. The April session, scheduled from April 21–30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, will take place on Tuesday the 21st, Thursday the 23rd, Tuesday the 28th, and Thursday the 30th.

The same day structure will apply for the other sessions as well.

Marvin Herrera

Marvin Herrera - CWI, CWE

Welding Engineer | Certified Welding Inspector | Educator

Marvin Herrera brings more than a decade of hands-on experience across welding, manufacturing engineering, automation, and education.

He began his career as a welder after completing community college training and spent five years on the shop floor before advancing into supervision and manufacturing engineering. He later earned his Certified Welding Inspector and Certified Welding Educator credentials from the American Welding Society.
Marvin has completed formal robotic programming training at Yaskawa Motoman, holds certification through Lincoln Electric’s LEEPS/NC3 program, and has taught welding and automation as both an adjunct and full-time instructor at Richard J. Daley College and Triton College.

He has also been invited to present on welding automation at major industry events, including the AWS Welding Automation Expo & Conference and FABTECH Orlando, sharing practical insights from real-world automation applications.
